Rochelle Storts

Designer + Illustrator based in Southern California

Some of my earliest memories are sorting my mother's vintage buttons and draping my dolls in her fabric scraps. I was fortunate to grow up in a household that encouraged creativity; making art, music, and performing ridiculous comedy sketches with my sisters was a part of my everyday. When I was seven, my mother taught me to sew on my grandmother's old Singer machine. I am forever grateful she passed on such a treasured skill, along with her love of color and textiles.

Classically trained in art, I received my BFA in Fine Art Drawing + Painting from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Nowadays, I am just as comfortable in the digital realm as a self-taught designer, though still prefer a pencil or paintbrush in hand. I believe my experience in both traditional and contemporary art forms, combined with the knowledge of garment design and construction has made me a well-rounded designer.

Since 2014, I have been producing children's clothing and textiles: find my wears in my online store, Little House in the Orchard, and my custom fabrics + wallpaper are available at Spoonflower.com.

Favorite things: motherhood, dancing, surfing, camping, the wee hours with friends, strumming the guitar, gardening, and karaoke.
